Esperanza Spalding – Radio Music Society
So, recently I signed up to this new music player called Deezer which is very very much like Spotify except that the music plays in your browser instead of a desktop application. Anyway this blog is NOT about Deezer, it’s about what I found when I was on Deezer.
So, I’m at home designing a flyer for a client when I decided to play some Esperanza, little did I know she had a new album out called Radio Music Society, so I decided to press play and hope for the best.
So, after the 1st track, my eyes are twitching a little. After the 2nd track (which was an hour later as I kept on rewinding the first track) my arms started involuntory moving. The 3rd track had my son and I dancing and for the first time he looked at me and said mama with conviction (no exaggeration – but this was only because at the begining it says ‘ahhh mama’. )
As I’m writing this I am listening to the album and I can’t even begin to tell you that I am overly happy that someone out there is still representing this type of music in the year 2012. Groovy, sexy, inspirational, erratic, moody are the words that come to mind when I listen. This does not showscase so much of her bass playing like the previous albums but it really showcases her songwriting skills and vocals.
I am finally coming out of my 70s 80s and 60s faze and stretching a finger to the present decade, but only a finger mind you and that finger is pointing at you Miss Esperanza.

I’ve been slack
I have been meaning to write a blog post since the beginning of the year but been ultra busy to even take the time out to do it. I apoligise for those that read religiously, I will try and make amends.
So much things have happened since we last were together, a new year came by, valentines day, my birthday , people died, people had babies.
